Abstract

This is a general guide to field identification, species description, and biology of the five bumble bee species Bombus spp. found in Florida. This guide to bumble bee identification in Florida would also be usable for coastal South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas, but it is not comprehensive for the northern/mountainous parts of those states, where Bombus auricomus, B. citrinus, B. fervidus, B. flavidus, B. perplexus, B sandersoni, B. terricola, and B. vagans are possible.
