Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission file uses the styles in the EDIS Word Template (download from https://edis-admin.ifas.ufl.edu) The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal. Submissions do not need to be anonymized for peer review. Please include author names on the manuscript.
  • Intended audience and purpose statement in introduction
  • Look up DOIs for reference list at https://doi.crossref.org/simpleTextQuery
  • If the submission recommends or mentions non-native plant species, authors have consulted the IFAS Assessment for the current conclusions (http://assessment.ifas.ufl.edu/)
  • All images, tables, etc., are appropriately credited. (Submit permissions documentation for licensed material with manuscript)
  • REVISIONS: All current and former authors (as necessary) approve any changes in authorship.

Manuscripts should be submitted in MS Word using the EDIS template. Click on the EDIS Word Template box found here: https://edis-admin.ifas.ufl.edu/ to download it. 

All EDIS manuscripts should include a statement in the introductory paragraph indicating the intended audience and purpose of the publication.

Manuscripts that are carefully prepared will take less time to process. 

  • Use a consistent style, such as Chicago Manual of Style
  • Test all hyperlinks 
  • Include appropriate and complete references and citations. Include digital object identifiers (DOIs) where available (use CrossRef's Simple Text Query to find them all at once).
  • Figures:
    • All figures are included as separate files in JPEG format; 300 DPI; maximum 1000 pixels wide x 2600 pixels high for single column; and maximum 1800 pixels wide x 2600 pixels high for double column
    • Properly credited according to the publisher's instructions 
    • All necessary permissions are included
    • Captions with credits are included for each figure
    • If figures aren't embedded in the manuscript, include figure callouts appear in the text. E.g.,
      <Figure 1: filename.jpg>
      
  • Tables:
    • Include tables in the Microsoft Word file
    • Complex tables may be submitted as a separate Excel file
    • Table callouts have been included in the text. E.g.,
      <Table 1: filename.xls>

UF/IFAS Citrus Trade Journal Articles

Submissions are reviewed following the EDIS peer review process, but they are then disseminated through Citrus Industry Magazine or other media outlets. 

Articles accepted in this section are published into annual special issues after they have been through the editorial process with the trade journal, and may be subject to the licensing of the trade magazine publisher.
