Abstract

This document is about megalocytiviruses, a group of fish viruses in the family Iridoviridae, which cause systemic infections in various freshwater and marine fish species1. It details the disease symptoms, diagnostic methods, and management practices for infected fish. The document also highlights the susceptibility of different fish species to these viruses and the importance of biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of infections. Additionally, it discusses the lack of effective treatments and the necessity of good husbandry practices to mitigate the impact of these viruses. First published Dec. 2010.
