Abstract

The publication provides an overview of the Spanish bayonet, a dramatic landscape plant known for its dark green, stiff, dagger-like leaves and bright white blossoms. This plant thrives in USDA hardiness zones 6 through 11 and is highly tolerant of salt, making it ideal for seaside plantings. The document discusses its growth habits, including its ability to form multi-stemmed clumps and its preference for full sun to partial shade. It also covers maintenance tips, such as removing the sharp-needled tips for safety, and highlights its use as an accent plant in gardens. First published Oct. 1999.
