Abstract

The publication on Schaefferia frutescens (Florida Boxwood) covers its characteristics as a dense, oval-shaped shrub or small tree, native to Florida. It has evergreen, elliptic leaves and produces greenish-white flowers followed by small, bright red fruits. Florida Boxwood is drought and salt-tolerant, thrives in partial shade, and can be used as a hedge, screen, or in formal landscaping. It has no known pest or disease issues and grows well in well-drained, alkaline soils. Original publication date October, 1999.
