Abstract

The Ocean Dumping Act regulates: the dumping of materials into the United States territorial ocean waters and the transportation of materials for the purpose of dumping.  The purpose of the statute is to strictly limit ocean disposal of any material that would negatively affect: human health, the marine environment, ecological systems, and potential economic endeavors. This is EDIS document FE451, a publication of the Department of Food and Resource Economics, Florida Cooperative Extension Service, UF/IFAS, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL.
