摘要

The unit operations laboratory is where students traditionally face practical problems (startup, steady-state, and shutdown procedures), apply models of unit operations, and acquire soft skills.  To increase retention of knowledge and improve integration of concepts, the laboratory course has been revised to focus on open-ended problems within a “stop and go” course organization. This framework forces students to search for information, to design experiments, to interpret data, and to derive conclusions.
