Simple Mass Transfer Experiment Using Nanofiltration Membranes
Abstract
A simple experiment is described to study mass transfer correlation in a stirred cell using nanofiltration membranes. The objective of the experiment is to calculate the mass transfer coefficient, k, which can then be used to determine the wall concentration at the membrane surface due to the concentration polarization effect. A simple mass balance of the system shows that it is possible to determine k from the measured rejection of binary salt.
