NFJA Call for Papers: 2020 Publication
The New Florida Journal of Anthropology is built on the tradition of the original Florida Journal of Anthropology, which was in press from 1976-1995. The revived NFJA is currently managed by four graduate students in the Anthropology Department at the University of Florida: Megan Fry (Coordinating Editor), Christopher LeClere (Cultural Anthropology Editor), Samantha McCrane (Biological Anthropology Editor), and Brittany Mistretta (Archaeology Editor).
Our primary goal is the dissemination of knowledge. To attain this, we are providing both the original FJA and current NFJA editions in an open-access digital format. This means our publications are completely free for both authors and readers! Furthermore, we are dedicated to maximizing article readership and will publicize each of our articles on various social media platforms.
We accept submissions from all levels of research, ranging from established researchers and academic staff to students. All professional or graduate student submissions will be subject to double-blind peer-review by existing, PhD level experts in that field. We also accept submissions from undergraduate researchers for publication in our “Undergraduate Research” section of the NFJA. These will also be peer-reviewed, but these reviewers may be at a Master’s level or above.
Submissions are not limited to members of the UF community. We encourage a diversity of research from all subfields of Anthropology, as well as any other fields with anthropologically-focused research questions. Research on all geographic regions and temporal spans is welcome.
We are looking for submissions in the following formats:
Original manuscripts and research: due 1/15/2020
Book reviews: due 4/15/2020
Dissertation & Thesis abstracts: due 5/1/2020
Publication Release 2020
