Abstract

Michigan Technological University has traditionally had a very strong safety emphasis in its unit operations course. As a faculty advisor to the safety committee, I used my ten years of industrial experience to enhance safety in the course, including creation of a unit operations laboratory Internet homepage emphasizing safety, development of a Safety Inspection Checklist, enhancement of Prevent Accidents with Safety (PAWS) forms to encourage safety suggestions, creation of a PAWS Tracking System, and development of Job Safety Assessment forms for each of the thirteen traditional unit operations experiments.
