Using In-Bed Temperature Profiles for Visualizing the Concentration Front Movement
Abstract
Understanding the movement of an adsorbate concentration front in a packed adsorption column may pose some difficulties in undergraduate courses. Measuring in-bed temperatures complements the traditional experimental approach, measuring outlet breakthrough curves. Students analyze this extra information, both qualitatively and quantitatively, in combination with Solute Movement Theory and a simulation program that uses a more detailed mathematical model.
