A Course in Bioprocess Engineering: Engaging the Imagination of Students Using Experiences Outside the Classroom

A bioprocess engineering course is described that incorporates active as well as traditional learning strategies in and outside the classroom. Unique activities include a field trip, interactive laboratory homework modules, and a class-wide team newsletter publishing project. The course design and rationale of these activities, along with assessment strategies, are described.
