Abstract

This paper describes a computer program for analysis of thermal radiation problems in an enclosure with nontrivial features. The view and exchange factors due to radiation between  point sources and the surfaces of the enclosure are calculated using the Monte Carlo technique. The methodology used is simple, intuitive, and provides students taking a course in thermal radiation with new mathematical concepts that, generally, are not covered in heat transfer courses.
