What is the Re in a Whale's Aorta?

Abstract

This teaching tip provides a biological example of the whale aorta to use in calculating Re and is compared to the Re in the human aorta. This example can be used in a fluid mechanics course or any course that discusses Re as a way to highlight biological examples with traditional chemical engineering concepts.
