About the Journal

Each year more students are engaging in research. Sometimes this is with their faculty; sometimes it is independent of their faculty mentor. Students, however, are often limited to publishing their work in their university student research journal. The Florida Undergraduate Research Journal (FURJ) is a publication opportunity for undergraduate students attending either a 2-year or 4-year, public or private, college or university in the state of Florida to share their work with others beyond their campus journals. FURJ accepts articles of original research from any discipline.

Publications undergo an extensive review process with student-authors receiving constructive feedback and comments at each stage in order to foster their research and writing skills. The Executive Editor and assistants review essays upon submission and suggest revisions if necessary. Essays are then reviewed by the Student Editorial Board, and when ready, by a Faculty Reviewer who publishes in that discipline. The review process assesses the focus of the question, the content, the methodology, and the audience; followed then by a review of the content by those dedicated and committed to high-quality student research.
