Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- FURJ only accepts essays of original research conducted by undergraduate students enrolled full-time in a Florida institution of higher education.
- The faculty mentor has reviewed the article against the rubric prior to submission and signed the Faculty Verification form (http://tinyurl.com/FURJFacultyVerification1).
- Research involving human subjects—including, but not limited to, surveying, interviewing, conducting focus groups, etc. involving participants—require IRB. Each institution has an IRB Committee which approves applications or provides exemptions based on the research conducted. Your university’s IRB Committee determines what is and is not exempt, not you or your faculty mentor. Submissions to FURJ must comply with IRB standards for publication, even if the research originated as a class project. Please work with your faculty mentor to obtain a protocol number or an exemption, and upload that documentation with your submission and the signed Faculty Verification Form. Note: some university IRB Committees will not review applications after the research has been conducted.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word format.
- Essays should be no more than 8000 words with notes, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12pt. font, and 1" margins. Illustrations, figures, and tables are appropriately labelled and placed within the text.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
