Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • The submission includes a cover page with names of all authors, their institutional affiliations, emails, and ORCID numbers, if available, that will be uploaded separately from the main text of the manuscript.
  • Where available, URLs or DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • By submitting this manuscript, I agree to review at least one manuscript for the journal.

Author Guidelines

Submissions to the Journal are made through our online system and accepted on a rolling basis.  Please click here to submit your materials.

Please ensure that you consider the following guidelines when preparing your manuscript. Failure to do so may delay the processing of your submission.

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
The submission includes a cover page with names of all authors, their titles and institutional affiliations, emails, postal addresses, phone numbers and ORCID numbers, if available, that will be uploaded separately from the main text of the manuscript. The cover page should also include the word count of the main body of text and approximately 6-7 keywords or phrases that will help locate your article in online searches and be used for indexing purposes.

The document of the main text of the manuscript has been appropriately blinded, with personally identifiable information removed.

Where available, URLs or DOIs for the references have been provided.

The manuscript is a double-spaced, .docx format document; uses a 12-point font; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are prepared according to the Author Guidelines.

Manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout, including block quotes and references, and each page should be numbered on the top right side of the page consecutively.

The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

An informative abstract of 150-250 words is required only for extended essay submissions. Please refer to the individual section policies below for appropriate submission length.

An Author’s note may include a Disclosure Statement (i.e., funding sources, conflict of interest statement, etc.) or other acknowledgments. This should appear on your title page (not in the masked manuscript).

Authors should follow instructions in the most recent edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association; this includes running heads, heading levels, spacing, margins, etc. Any manuscripts that do not follow these formatting instructions may be returned to the authors.

The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Personal communications and unpublished works should only be mentioned in the text.

Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last names of the first author of each work.

Journal names and book titles should be italicized.

If available, please always include DOIs as full DOI links in your reference list.

Footnotes can be used to give additional information, which may include the citation of a reference included in the reference list. They should not consist solely of a reference citation, and they should never include the bibliographic details of a reference. They should also not contain any figures or tables.

Footnotes to the text are numbered consecutively; footnotes to tables should be indicated by superscript lower-case letters (or asterisks for significance values and other statistical data). Footnotes to the title or the authors of the article are not given reference symbols.

Submissions are accepted in both British and American English, but please note that the chosen style of your submission should remain consistent throughout.

Avoid making general reference to entire regions unless all countries in the region are included in your analysis.

Where relevant, please give both the local currency and its equivalent in USD or EUR, as well as the date of conversion.

Define foreign terms and translate bibliographic references. For titles written in a foreign language, provide the original version first, followed by the translated version in brackets. The first appearance of acronyms and abbreviations should include their expanded version.

Figures, Illustrations, and Media
Figures, tables, and illustrations should be included in the manuscript file following the APA Publication Manual guidelines on tables and figures. However, upon acceptance, authors may be asked to submit figures, tables, and illustrations as separate files to aid in the production of the final article.
