Alexandra Nowakowski, PhD, Florida State University College of Medicine

Alexandra "Xan" Nowakowski is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Geriatrics and Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine. As a medical sociologist and public health program evaluator, Dr. Nowakowski focuses on the experience and management of chronic conditions, emphasizing concepts related to healthy aging and health equity. All of their work is informed by their own awareness and experiences as a person aging with cystic fibrosis and a variety of related health impacts. Dr. Nowakowski uses scholarly inquiry as an engagement strategy to support empowerment in aging populations experiencing intersecting forms of social, economic, and cultural marginalization.
