Abstract

North-Central Florida is the highland region which lies south of the Santa Fe River and north of a line drawn east-west through Belleview in southern Marion County. The area is characterized by grassy scrubs, sandhill communities, pine flatwoods, xeric, mesic and hydric hammocks, hardwood swamps, ponds, and sinkholes.
