Abstract

Homosexual mounting is common in insects. Half the mounting attempts of Palmacorixa nana Walley males are homosexual and weights of mounting and mounted animals show that mounters are seeking animals larger than themselves. Since females are larger than males, this behaviour results in some proportion of correct choice of mates.
