Two New Genera of Nearctic Heptageniidae (Ephemeroptera)
Abstract
The Nearctic species of Heptagenia Walsh are herein divided into 3 genera: Heptagenia; Leucrocuta Flowers, n. gen.; and Nixe Flowers, n. gen. Leucrocuta corresponds to the maculipennis group of Heptagenia while Nixe corresponds to the lucidipennis and simpliciodes groups (all as originally discussed by Traver). The lucidipennis and simpliciodes groups represent subgenera of Nixe, Nixe s.s. and Akkarion Flowers, n. subgen. Descriptions and keys to male imagos and mature nymphs are provided.Downloads
