Periodic Abundance of Pine Cone-Infesting Lepidoptera in Black Light Traps and Sleeve Cages in North Florida
Abstract
The seasonal flight activity of 5 species of Lepidoptera destructive to pine cones and seeds was determined from 3 years of records of black light trapping in northeast Florida. The seasonal emergence pattern of Dioryctria amatella (Hulst) from galls of southern fusiform rust, Cronartium fusiforme Hedgc. and Hunt ex Cyumm., on stems of slash pine, Pinus elliottii Engelm. var. elliottii, was also evaluated by means of sleeve cages.Downloads
