Getting Involved

Joining the Editorial Board

As a FPLR Editorial Board Member, you are expected to offer meaningful participation and feedback in the editorial process. This includes communication with the authors and other editorial board members, providing meaningful feedback to authors, and other related tasks assigned by the FPLR officers.
It is mandatory for board members to not discuss content with anyone outside of the editorial board. FPLR meetings and editing processes are confidential. This is to ensure the integrity and fairness of our process when choosing and editing papers.

In order to become a member of the FPLR editorial board, please fill out the Google Form provided in our LinkTree! From there, you will submit a writing sample of your work, and will be notified of your acceptance at the end of the editorial board application period. If you are accepted, you will receive an email with a link to the Florida Pre-Law Review GroupMe. This GroupMe will be the primary form of communication for the Editorial Board members. All information including meeting times, notes, and other general information will be shared there.

Beginning the Process
The first segment of the editorial board process will come when we are accepting papers. The editorial board will meet and go over the papers briefly to decide which papers will be accepted for the review. Editors are responsible for taking notes on all of the papers and attending the in person/online meetings where the votes will take place.

Next Steps
After the board has decided on the papers that will be accepted, each editor will be assigned 2-3 papers in the LHS software for rigorous review. Each paper will have a group of 2-3 editors to assist and work as a team when editing the paper for publication. Editors are expected to maintain frequent contact with the authors of their assigned papers along with their other editorial members. All editing is to take place digitally, shared communally with the author and the editorial group.

Finishing the Editorial Process
After the papers have been finalized and edited, the editorial group is to contact the editor-in-chief that all the edits have been made, the author approved the edits, and the final paper has been resubmitted to the LHS website.
