Abstract
Acacia (s.l.) spp. are the dominant natural woody plants in the Kenyan Rift Valley, the exact species depending upon the altitude and water table. Lakes, in particular, support relatively thick fringing woodland, from which Lepidoptera have been collected, reared and identified. The significance of Acacia woodlands for biodiversity is discussed.
