The results of a lepidopterological expedition to Laos in 2005 are presented as the first notes of a planned series. Akaisphecia melanopuncta O.
Gorbunov & Arita, 1995 (Lepidoptera, Sesiidae) is recorded for Laos for the first time. Illustrations of imago and habitat are presented.
