The life history of Morpho peleides insularis (Fruhstorfer) (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Morphinae) is described from material reared on Paragonia pyramidata (L. C. Rich) in the family Bignoniaceae. Occasional hosts in Trinidad are also Erythrina glauca and E. micropteryx (Fabaceae). The complete life cycle takes 74 days at ambient temperatures in eastern coastal Trinidad (7 days in the egg stage, 53 days in four or five larval instars, and 14 days as a pupa).
