Two new species in the Anteros chrysoprasta group from Ecuador (Lepidoptera: Riodinidae: Helicopini)
Abstract
Two new riodinid species in the chrysoprasta group of Anteros Hübner, [1819] (Helicopini) are described from eastern Ecuador, A. chrysodrosia Hall & Willmott n. sp. from the Amazonian lowlands, and A. incrustatus Hall & Willmott n. sp. from montane east Andean forest. The A. chrysoprasta group is characterized to contain seven species distributed from Mexico to southeastern Brazil, with three similar species occurring sympatrically in Amazonia (A. chrysodrosia, A. chrysoprasta Hewitson, 1867, and A. milae Brévignon, 2015), one ranging throughout the lowland Transandean region (A. roratus Godman & Salvin, 1886), and three occurring allopatrically in montane habitats of the eastern Andes and Brazilian Atlantic forest (A. incrustatus, A. gentilis Rebillard, 1958, and A. zikani Siewert, Dias & Dolibaina, 2014). All of these species are figured, diagnosed, and discussed. A lectotype is designated for Anteros roratus.
