Abstract

Hypercompe (Pseudocompe) fatimae Tavares sp. nov. is described based on material collected in the Pedra Talhada Biological Reserve (REBIO de Pedra Talhada), Alagoas, within the Atlantic Forest of Northeastern Brazil. In addition, new records of Hypercompe (Pseudocompe) cunigunda (Stoll, [1781]) and Catenina mus (Oberthür, 1881) expand the known distribution of both genera for Paraíba, Brazil, and provide valuable material for future biogeographical and inventory studies. This work contributes to the knowledge of moth biodiversity in this undersampled region and highlights the importance of continued research in the Atlantic Forest.
