Abstract

Convergently phenotypic, black-veined geometrid moths of Central America (Mexico to Panama) with hyaline or partially hyaline intervein areas are reviewed. When flushed, all are mimics of day-flying clear-winged ithomiine nymphalid butterflies (Greta Hemming, Ithomia Hübner, etc.). Seven species of moths are treated, including three new species described from Costa Rica: Crocypus semihyalina Matson n. sp. (Larentiinae, Eudulini), Astyochia longirama Matson n. sp. (Ennominae, Ennomini), and Stibaractis dianawegeae Matson n. sp. (Ennominae, Ennomini). Erycinopsis perspicua (Butler) rev. stat. is reinstated from synonymy with E. diaphana Felder. Food plant data for Erycinopsis Felder and Stibaractis Warren are reported for the first time, and the distinctive larva of E. perspicua is illustrated for the first time.
