Scientific note: Observations of Cryptobotys zoilusalis (Crambidae: Herpetogrammatini)
Abstract
Cryptobotys zoilusalis has been little studied. Larvae and pupae collected from a residential garden in the Dominican
Republic were observed over a two-month period. Two new host plant species are reported: Eleutheranthera ruderalis (Sw.)
Sch.Bip. and Synedrella nodiflora (L.) Gaertn. (Asteraceae). The individuals exhibited 17% survival to eclosure, and parasitoids
accounted for 14% of observed mortality.
