Abstract
This article chronicles Allen's personal and professional journey within the library system at the University of Florida (UF). Allen reflects on the pivotal role libraries played in his life. His employment within the library system—first as a student worker and later as a full-time staff member—allowed him to engage deeply with library operations and foster a love for the academic environment. Over his 30-year tenure, Allen has contributed significantly to the library's collections, including notable donations related to LGBTQ+ cinema, and has documented the evolution of the library through photography.
