Abstract

The spatial distribution pattern of Tillandsia violacea Baker was studied along an altitudinal gradient in a temperate forest in "El Chico" National Park, Hidalgo, Mexico, with emphasis on the host tree species. Results clearly showed a clumped spatial distribution pattern in the four habitat types of host trees. We found a positive effect of altitude in the T. violacea abundance, a preference for Abies religiosa as host tree, and a relation between height of host trees and abundance of T. violacea.
