Abstract
Oncidium morenoi Dodson & Luer, sp. nov. Planta Oncidio pumilo Lindley affinis sed differt colore albo, forma quadrata loborum labelli, base labelli gibbosa verrucosa aurea, forma quad- rata alis columnae et columna breviore. Plant epiphytic, rhizome short, pseudobulbs minute, unifoliate, more or less compressed, concealed by sev,eral imbricating, scarious sheaths. Leaf elliptic, acute, narrowed at the base, very thick and fleshy, 2.2-9 cm long, 1.5-7 cm broad, green with red punctations. Inflorescence longer than the leaves, erect or nodding, densely paniculate and many-flowered, 5-40 cm long; peduncle stout, provided with short, close, tubular sheaths. Floral bracts very short, ovate-triangular, acute 1.5 mm long, shorter than the pedi- cellate ovary which is 2.5 mm long. Flowers fleshy, small with spreading segments, white with a faint red flush, callus of lip yellow. Dorsal sepal ovate, obtuse, 3 mm long, 2 mm broad. Lateral sepals free, similar to dorsal sepal but oblique and spatulate. Petals obovate, obtuse, 2.7 mm long, 1.5 mm broad. Lip much broader and slightly longer than the other segments, trilobed, sessile and subcordate at the base, 3.5 mm long, 6 mm broad, lat- eral lobes quadrate, erose on the edge, apical lobe broadly ovate-subquad- rate, apiculate; disc at the base swollen and tuberculate, developed at its lower margin into 4 finger-like processes, the outer two shorter than the inner. Column short and stout, 1.5 mm high, with a pair of quadrate wings. Pollinia 2, narrowly clavate, transluscent yellow, stipe very short, viscidium transversely ovate.
