Inaugural Issue Published

We are delighted to launch the inaugural issue of PURANA Media. The issue features three research articles—ranging from Persian purāṇa translations, the visual culture of Indian asceticism, to contemporary Indo-Caribbean diasporic practice—alongside photo essays and a contemporary artist’s reflection. The editors’ introductory essay outlines the reorientation underway in the study of Sanskrit literary culture, South Asian history, and religious studies that both the journal and the broader ERC-funded PURANA project represent.
