About the Journal

What is PAH?
Perspectives on Arts and Health (PAH) is an open-access, online journal dedicated to sharing diverse perspectives, practices, and ideas at the intersection of arts and health. We aim to bridge academic, community, and creative worlds.

Who is the journal for?
PAH is especially designed for community artists, practitioners, and interdisciplinary thinkers, while remaining open to scholars, educators, and anyone interested in arts and health.

Is PAH U.S.-based or international?
PAH is currently U.S.-focused, but we actively welcome international submissions and aim to grow an international readership over time.

Submissions

What kinds of submissions do you accept?
We welcome a wide range of formats, including:

  • Research and conceptual articles

  • Case studies and reflective essays

  • Practice-based and program models

  • Curatorial approaches and cross-sector collaborations

  • Descriptions of music, visual art, or creative projects

  • Multimedia submissions (videos, compositions, and more)

If it fits within arts and health, we want to see it.

Do you accept interdisciplinary work?
Yes. We welcome work that crosses arts, public health, social work, neuroscience, disability studies, design, and related fields.

Do you accept submissions on international or culturally specific healing traditions?
Absolutely — including traditions outside Western medical frameworks, as long as they align with the journal’s scope.

Are conceptual or practice-focused articles okay?
Yes. Submissions do not need to be research-heavy or academic in style.

Are videos or multimedia submissions accepted?
Yes — and we’d love to see more of them.
