Abstract
A new species, Paratrophurus costarricensis sp. n., is described from rice (Oryza sativa L.) soil taken at the Guanacaste province, Costa Rica. Being monosexual, it is related to P hungaricus Andrassv, 1973, but can be differentiated from it by its smaller size (0.602 vs 0.72-0.75 mm), its longer stylet (21 vs 14 m), the smaller ratio (2 vs 3) and its longer hyaline portion of the tail (13 vs 9 m).
