Abstract

Two systemic nematicides, Furadan 3G (carbofuran) and Temik 15G (aldicarb), were evaluated for control of plant parasitic nematodes on sugar cane under field conditions. Applications of the nematicides were made after treatment of soca. The variety of sugar cane used was 'P.R. 980', five years old. Dosages used were, Furadan 3G 150, 100 and 70 kg/ha, and Temik 15G 30, 20 and 14 kg/ha. Results indicated that there were no significant differences for sucrose, yield of cane and sugar, although increased values were observed in soil treated with Temik at 20 kg/ha. All nematicide treatments resulted in marked reduction of nematodes. Populations were higher at the beginning of the experiment than at the end.
