Description of a new and a known species of the genus Oxydirus Thorne, 1939 (Nematoda: Dorylaimida)

Abstract

A new and a known species of the genus Oxydirus Thorne, 1939 are described and illustrated. Oxydirus sturhani sp. n. is characterized by having 1.2-1.4 mm long body; asymmetrical lip region, offset by depression; odontostyle aperture about one-half of its length; vulva transverse at 29-31%; pars proximalis vaginae with rounded walls; long filiform tail. Oxydirus tenuicaudatus Thorne, 1964 is re-described and a key to the species of the genus is provided.
