Abstract

Xiphinema aequum sp. n. is described. It was found in the rhizosphere of olive trees (Olea europaea L.) at Palagiano (Taranto), south Italy. The new species is similar to X. dil'ersicaudalwn (Micoletzh, 1923 and 1927) Thorne 1939 and X. dissimile Roca, Pereira el Lamberti, 1987 from which it differs in the lack of the "Z pseudo-organ». X. aeqllum closely resembles X. israeliae Luc, Brown el Cohn, 1982, X. barberchaeckae Coomans el Heyns, 1985 and X. lacrimaspinae Hutsebaut, Hevns el Coomans, 1987. The male of Longidorus eridanicus is also described.
