Morphology and histopathology of the cereal cyst nematode (Heterodera avenae Woll.) attacking wheat, oats and barley in Italy

Abstract

Morphometric data of Heterodera avenae Woll. from Italy are given. Important diagnostic features of second stage juveniles, males and gravid females and cysts are illustrated by light and scanning electron photomicrographs. The histological alterations induced by the Italian population of H. avenae in barley (Hordeul71 vulgare L.) roots are also discussed and illustrated.
