Abstract

A nematode survey carried out in Sri Lanka in the years 1979-1981 revealed the presence of two species of Hoplolaimus. Hoplolaimus seinhorsti occurred in 53 localities widespread in the country. It was found in the rhizosphere of 27 cultivated plants as well as in wild grass and woodlands. Distribution of H. pararobustus, which occurred only in ten out of the ca. 900 samples collected, appears to be restricted to the central area of the island. Biometrics of both species fit with previous descriptions.
