Abstract

This survey describes the distribution of trichodorid nematodes in the D.O.C. vineyards of the province of Verona. Only species of Trichodorus were detected, but never species of Paratrichodorus. T. viruliferus Hooper was the most common species and occurred throughout the Province, except in the "Lugana" area. T. sparsus Szczygiel occurred often in low numbers throughout the Province, except in the "Bianco di Custoza" zone, restricted to vineyards with loamy soil on the plains and hills. Finally, some specimens of T. coomansi De Waele et Carbonell were found in one sample from Lazise in the "Bardolino" area, in a vineyard growing in sandy soil on the plain. This is the first Italian record of T. coomansi.
