Abstract

The subtribe Actenonycina (Coleoptera: Carabidae: Harpalinae: Odacanthini) is revised for New Zealand. Two genera and six species are recognized.

One genus and three species are described as new: Neactenonyx Larochelle and Larivière new genus, Neactenonyx mcfarlani Larochelle and Larivière new species, Neactenonyx sharpi Larochelle and Larivière new species, Actenonyx whitei Larochelle and Larivière new species.

One new combination is established: Actenonyx aotearoa Kavanaugh, 2022 = Neactenonyx aotearoa (Kavanaugh, 2022).

Sphallax peryphoides Bates, 1871, previously synonymized with Actenonyx bembidioides White, 1846, is reinstated as a full species.

A revision of all taxa is provided. Descriptions, identification keys, illustrations of male genitalia, habitus photos, distributional data and maps are given. Information on ecology, biology, dispersal power, and collecting techniques is included for each species.
