Abstract

A soil temperature of 20 C was equally suitable for the invasion and development of M. hapla and M. /avanica. However, M. /avanica predominated in a mixed species infection at this temperature. Predominance increased with increasing mixed-species inoculum levels. Invasion by M. hapla was more density-dependent than M./avanica. M. hapla produced a greater incidence of terminal galls and lateral roots. Key Words: Temperature, Inoculum level, Invasion, Development, Sex ratio, Terminal galls, Lateral roots.
