Abstract

Perma Guard D-20, a formulation of natural pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide on diatomaceous earth (DE), was compared with DE alone and Golden Bear-1111 (GB-1111) against Aedes taeniorhynchus (Wied.), Culex quinquefasciatus Say and Culex nigripalpus Theobald larvae in laboratory and small plot field tests 24 hours posttreatment. DE alone was ineffective in laboratory tests. Perma Guard was as effective as GB-1111 against Ae. taeniorhynchus and Cx. nigripalpus larvae in the laboratory but was significantly (P<0.05) less effective than GB-1111 in small plot tests.
