Abstract

The Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL) is the global databank for mean sea level (MSL) measurements from tide gauges and its dataset is used in a wide range of scientific research. A report is given of the PSMSL's dataset and its activities concentrating on recent developments. The Global Sea Level Observing System (GLOSS) tide gauge network, coordinated by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), has as one of its prime objectives the improvement in quality and quantity of the supply of MSL information to the PSMSL. A review is given of the status of GLOSS, as perceived from the PSMSL viewpoint.
