Abstract

Rotational slumping structures, termed "erosion cusps" herein, are common structures on the tidal channel banks of the Bahia Blanca Estuary, Argentina. The faulting and later slumping of the material are produced mainly by unstable channel banks with slopes as great as 50°. Other factors affecting the stability of the banks include the variability of sediment composition and cohesiveness, bioturbation, and mechanical fatigue due to small wind waves and ship wakes.
