The Duration of Shore Exposure Along the Emerging Finnish Coast
Keywords:
Shore processes, coastal zone, Finland land uplift, sea-level fluctuationsAbstract
The duration of shore exposure is the time period for which a particular point on the shore is subject to shore processes. On the coast of Finland this time period is determined by the interaction of the rate of land uplift and the amplitude of short-term water-level fluctuations. These factors vary at different places along the coast. The configuration of the coast and the characteristics of the shores determine the effect of the duration of shore exposure on the Finnish coastal environment.
