FURJ Vol. 4 (2025) Student Editorial Board

Under the umbrella of the Florida Undergraduate Research Association, the Florida Undergraduate Research Journal publishes scholarship peer-reviewed according to disciplinary standards and brings together student researchers across disciplines into a broader discussion that explores discoveries that will shape the future. It allows students a venue for publication that is a step beyond their campus journal and would not require faculty collaboration. Students would have the opportunity to be the first or sole author.

The Florida Undergraduate Research Journal also invites students to serve on the Student Editorial Board. Scholarship not only stands at the heart of university life but also provides opportunities to professionally engage in the dissemination of such work. Overseeing the timely publication of a journal is critical to the dissemination of new ideas and novel interpretations of what we thought we knew. Being involved in project management allows students to engage in the process of publication and professionalize their skills. As members of the Editorial Board, students will work with Florida Virtual Library Campus and will participate in monthly board meetings on Zoom; review submissions to see if they are appropriate for disciplinary review; arrange for faculty or graduate students to conduct a disciplinary review; and create an image for the volumes cover. This is a great opportunity to acquire experiences that graduate schools and employers value.

If you wish to be considered for the Student Editorial Board, please fill out this form: https://fgcu.formstack.com/forms/furj_sign_up. The application deadline is 22 March and decisions will be announced 1 April.
