In this paper it is shown how linear programming and simulation can be used to assist managers of citrus farms in making the difficult decisions of how to plant and replant orchards. The models are also designed in such a way that they can help to bridge the communication gap which often exists between the modeler and the user who, more often than not, are unfamiliar with each other's jargon.
